Did you know bedroom temperature can have a significant impact on sleep quality? Sleep experts link comfortable bedroom temperature and optimum body temperature with successful sleep. A lowering in body temperature is a natural function as we prepare for sleep[1], which means a room temperature that is too high can lead to restlessness and poor sleep[2].

  1. Hydration is key: while appetites can sometimes be suppressed by heat[3], regular fluid intake is necessary. Drinking water regularly throughout the day will help hydrate the body for the long hours of sleep ahead.

  2. Natural is best: breathable bed linens such as cotton and linen promote airflow and ventilation[4]. Natural fibres will absorb perspiration and keep bodies cool, dry and more comfortable on warm nights.
