Why don't we reference HP (Horse Power) anymore for heat pump / air conditioners?

By Kyle Rafter - August 19, 2021

Horse Power is a power rating for the compressor. This does not take into account the actual cooling and heating performance of the system. Kilowatts (kW) are a rating for the cooling/heating output of the entire heat pump / air conditioner working together and not just the compressor.
