What is the difference between a split system and a floor or ceiling console?

By Kyle Rafter - August 19, 2021

A split system is a system where the indoor and outdoor components are separate (as opposed to the older window/wall units where they were all in one unit). Split systems come with different indoor unit options such as wall mounted, floor standing, ceiling cassette, and ducted configurations. A floor or ceiling console enables the split system to be installed in the ceiling or on the floor if appropriate wall space is unavailable for a wall mounted split system heat pump / air conditioner.
