Sponsorship V8 RacingV8 Racing The New Zealand V8s is the leading motorsport category in New Zealand.Popularity is surging, thanks to the terrific competition between Ford and Holden, and the exciting driving of our own Kayne Scott, his Kiwi rivals like Johnny McIntyre, Andy Booth and Angus Fogg, plus the more recent influx of Australian Supercar drivers.NZ V8s has become recognised as an outstanding class in its own right, and differs from the Australian V8 Supercars by "cost capping" so that the competition is not dominated by one make or team. This leads to huge grids of 25-30+ vehicles, more spectacular racing, with thrilling close-action and plenty of heart-stopping excitement. NZ V8s are all sprint races, held on racetracks throughout the country. Kayne Scott won the 2006/2007 season,
after a controversial finish that initially saw Angus Fogg (Ford Falcon) awarded the trophy, only to lose it in the court room. The 07/08 season saw Ford dominating for the first time, Kayne Scott switching to Ford, and dicing with Johnny McIntyre for the championship lead, yet Johnny McIntyre ultimately winning convincingly. The 08/09 season proved to be the most exciting one ever, going right down to the wire, on the last race of the last meet at Pukekohe. At the start of the final reverse grid race, John McIntyre was still 21 points ahead on Kayne, and just had to cruise into 3rd spot to win his 3rd straight championship. But it wasn't to be. In an electrifying drive, Kayne charged through from the back of the grid, and blitzed the field in a stunning victory. After the celebrations, Kayne thanked us for "our awesome support". Well, we'd like to thank Kayne for an awesome season of brilliant motor racing.
