'Habitat' is an international not-for-profit organisation, whose goal is to house those families, who through no fault of their own, are unable to afford decent shelter. Habitat New Zealand has 12 offices throughout the country.

Since building their first home in Pukekohe in 1993, 'Habitat' has built 318 homes for families across New Zealand, supplying the security, and comfort that only 'your own home' can provide.

A typical Habitat house in New Zealand is 100 sq. m., constructed with timber framing, fibrous cement cladding and iron roof, which are the most suitable and economical building materials. The average build time is three to six month, at a cost of approximately $200,000.
